Following India’s airstrikes across Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK) in response to the April 22 terror attack in Pahalgam, the incident has not only created waves politically but also sparked immediate interest in Bollywood. Top production houses are reportedly scrambling to register the title ‘Operation Sindoor’ for films and web series.
Haresh Patel from the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association (IMPPA) confirmed the sudden surge in title applications. Speaking to Hindustan Times, he revealed, “We have received nearly 25 requests to register the title in just two days. While two of these are for regional language content, the rest are all for Hindi projects. We cannot prevent anyone from applying for the title.”
He further clarified that the title will be granted to the first applicant, as per standard procedure.
Meanwhile, Suresh Amin of the Indian Film and Television Producers Council (IFTPC) also noted a high influx of title registration requests. “IFTPC is seeing a flood of applications, all centered around the ‘Operation Sindoor’ theme. We’ve received about 10 to 12 such requests, mainly from leading Bollywood production houses. These titles are being registered for both films and digital series,” he said.
Given the popularity and box office success of military dramas like Uri, Shershaah, Fighter, and Sky Force, it’s clear that war and patriotic stories continue to captivate Indian audiences. All eyes are now on which production house secures the rights to ‘Operation Sindoor’ and how the story unfolds on screen.
